Brake out from school at Riccarton
The isolated railway station at Riccarton Junction was a wide island platform and a short length of the Down (northbound) side of this can be seen behind the guard's brake van stabled on a length of track. This track and a longer length past the Up side of the platform were laid by a group called the Friends of Riccarton Junction, who had hopes of restoring the station as a visitor centre but later disbanded owing to financial problems. In the background can be seen the sole remaining inhabited house at Riccarton Junction, original built for the village school master. The building to its right, partly hidden by trees, is believed to have been the school.
