Drinking fountain in Wilton Lodge Park
I am happy to say that this granite drinking fountain is in good working order. The inscription reads:- ERECTED BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION IN MEMORY OF GEORGE FRASER MACNEE ON RECOGNITION OF HIS DEVOTION TO HIS NATIVE TOWN BORN 3rd NOVEMBER 1863 DIED 25th JANUARY 1905 IN LOVE OF HOME THE LOVE OF COUNTRY TAKES ITS RISE! DICKENS

Balcary House
Hawick: built in 1888 for the prosperous Laing family - local millowners - it was purchased by Barnardos during the last War as a refuge for children evacuated from Kent, and continued as a foster home for a further thirty years. In 2015, it reopened as a luxury hotel.
