Silver Street, Hawick
Silver Street in Hawick is a narrow thoroughfare; it's seen in this image from near to its junction with the B6399, one of the main routes through the town and close to a bridge over the Slitrig Water. The building in ashlar stone at the left side of the image was once the Commercial Bank and has the OS flush bracket number 1492 low down on its Silver Street face.

St Mary's and Old Parish Church
The core of the building dates back to the 1760s but it was rebuilt in 1882/3 after a fire. There has been a church on the site for 800 years.

Howegate
Road repairs on a deceptively sunny day. A cold front had just passed, and after the squalls, the cold north westerlies set in. The heat from the molten bitumen would have been very welcome.
