Mary, Queen of Scots House in Jedburgh
In 1566, only a few weeks after the birth of her son, James, Queen Mary made a desperate dash to see James Hepburn, 4th. Earl of Bothwell after he had been severely wounded at Hermitage Castle. She made the trip to and from Hermitage in the same day but was pulled in to a bog on the return journey. The injured queen was brought to Jedburgh and rest in the old house which belonged to the Kerr family of Ferniehurst. She is thought to have returned to the Palace of Holyroodhouse the following day.

Mary Queen of Scots house
Mary Queen of Scots lived here for a while on her journey around the country to show herself to the public. She also dispensed justice from here or near here. The house itself is small but very interesting.

Mary Queen of Scots' House
Not really a house belonging to the beheaded queen, but a place where she is reputed to have stayed for four weeks in 1566. The interior is now an interesting museum devoted to the story of the rather tragic queen.
