Shell filling station at Jedburgh
A burst of low-angle November sunshine provides dramatic lighting to this forecourt scene by the A68 on the northern edge of Jedburgh. The pump price for unleaded is 103.9 p/litre and diesel is 106.9 p/litre. Fuel prices continue to be volatile. I filled up here last weekend at 103.9 p/litre for diesel, while at a Shell station at Galashiels 14 miles away, diesel is 110.9 p/litre.

Site of former Jedburgh station, 2000
View northward on Bongate, the A68 to Edinburgh: the station had been on the right, opposite the Petrol Station. It was the terminus of the ex-NBR branch from Roxburgh, closed to passengers 13/8/48 after severe damage to the line by the Great Borders Floods of 12/8/48, but the line was restored and used for freight until 10/8/64.

Steep Hill with Gritting Box!
Trust me - there's not a lot in this square! Unclassified single-track "backwoods" road, Jedburgh to Crailing.

Jed Water
I can't agree with the first geographer of this square - there is plenty here to photograph, as members of Jedforest Rugby Club or the Caravan and Camping Club will testify. This view is taken from the bridge over the Jed Water. The cliffs are home to nesting sand martins in the summer.

Station Bridge, Jedburgh
Named after the days when Jedburgh had a railway station at the north end of the town, at the end of a branch line from Roxburgh Junction: see http://www.railbrit.co.uk/Jedburgh_Railway/frame.htm The railway was closed to passengers in 1948.
The bridge carries the A68 over the Jed Water, and comparing with
Image, we can see that it has had a new coat of paint since 2007.
