Jethart Hand-ba
I had no idea that this was taking place and stopped to see some of the action when passing through Jedburgh on the way to Lanton. I was just missed by the leather ball which flew down the High Street followed by assorted Uppies and Downies.

Looking towards the Mercat Cross in the centre of Jedburgh. The crowds visible are watching and participating in the Ba Game, a medieval form of handball played by two teams of Uppies and Downies. Note how the shop windows have been boarded up.
