Street art in Selkirk
A group of over 40 knitters called the Selkirk Yarn Bombers, including one aged 104, have covered landmarks in Selkirk and Ettrickbridge with colourful knitted street art which has attracted visitors to admire their handiwork. It was done to promote the Yarrow, Ettrick and Selkirk Festival of Contemporary Arts. This tree is at a church in the High Street. There is also a knitted cross by the entrance door.

Poets' Corner, Selkirk
Large white boards bearing verses from famous local poets, such as Sir Walter Scott and James Hogg, were put up over the boarded-up windows of the former Co-op building in High Street (the building on the left) in 2005 to coincide with Scott’s Selkirk, an annual winter festival celebrating the life and times of Sir Walter Scott. The poetry boards are on the ground floor windows while the first floor windows display the words POETS’ CORNER. The empty property was to be turned into flats and shops but nothing has yet happened, no doubt due to the downturn in the economy. The original idea was to tidy up the appearance of the empty premises and as far as I can make out, there is not one piece of graffiti on these boards. This is a view down high street towards Scott’s Place.
