Street art in Selkirk
A group of over 40 knitters called the Selkirk Yarn Bombers, including one aged 104, have covered landmarks in Selkirk and Ettrickbridge with colourful knitted street art which has attracted visitors to admire their handiwork. It was done to promote the Yarrow, Ettrick and Selkirk Festival of Contemporary Arts. This tree is at a church in the High Street. There is also a knitted cross by the entrance door.

The James Buchan Brown Memorial in Selkirk
An eminent 19th century poet and essayist, Brown was born,in 1832 the son of a wealthy mill owner in Galashiels and was educated in Selkirk and Edinburgh. He died on Christmas day 1904. His best known works were 'Poems' in 1869 and the 'Thoughts and Musings of J.B. Selkirk' which was published posthumously in 1812. He became forever known as J.B. Selkirk
