Former Dingleton Hospital boiler house
This 1977 building by Chiefswood Road, designed by Peter Womersley, was commended for its concrete work and received the F.T. Industrial Architecture Award in 1978. It replaced the steam boiler plant installed in 1901 at the former psychiatric hospital at Dingleton (1872). The hospital, on a 25.6 hectare (63.2 acre) site, was sold by NHS Borders to a private developer in 2001. The boiler house including boundary walls is a grade B listed building (of regional or more than local importance) and will remain in situ for the foreseeable future.
