The remains of St John's Lodge in Newstead
This is the site of the original Lodge of Melrose St John No 1 at the end of St John’s Wynd in Newstead. A small fragment of the original building survives with a plaque inlaid into the remains, inscribed:- THE OFFICIAL SITE LUDGE OF MELROS ST. JOHN The Lodge moved to hired rooms at Melrose in 1743 and moved again in 1791 to premises in High Street, Melrose Image The Lodge of Melrose St John No 1 is reputed to be one of the oldest Masonic Lodges in Scotland.

The office complex consists of five red sandstone buildings that were erected in 1903 as Melrose Infectious Diseases Hospital. A new 2-storey unit that links into three of the existing blocks was added in 1994

NHS Borders Headquarters at Newstead
The main entrance to the office complex at Rushbank is centre right at a 2-storey 1994 new build that is linked into three of the original 1903 red sandstone buildings on the site. The original buildings functioned as Melrose Infectious Diseases Hospital.
