KILN HILL Tweedmouth
Kiln Hill was once the main road leading to the Old Bridge over the River Tweed at Berwick .
(This Bridge has just celebrated its 400th anniversary.)
Behind these houses lay an old clay pipe factory, now demolished.
The firm of Tennants ran a clay pipe making factory here in Tweedmouth from 1844 until 1915, when it burnt down. It was just across the road from the Tweed Dock where blocks of clay arrived by ship. It was then trundled up the alley to the factory.
KILN HILL refers to the kilns in which the clay pipes were baked. One house on Kiln Hill is named Pipe House in homage to this past history.

Furniture retailer, Tweedmouth
This furniture retailer, Beds At Berwick, is located at the Tweedmouth end of the Royal Tweed Bridge and its junction with Ord Road and Northumberland Road. The crowd barriers seen on the pavement in front of the building are there to reserve an area for a band to play in when the olympic torch relay passes through the town later in the day.

Empty shop, Prince Edward Road, Tweedmouth
The shop had been vacated days earlier by its previous occupant a local independent furniture retailer. Planning permission has been granted to demolish this 1930s Art Deco style building (which was originally built for the local co-operative society) and replace it with a retail unit which is proposed to be occupied by Pets At Home.
