Looking up Walkergate towards Wallace Green and the Parade. Bunting has been stung up over head to mark the diamond jubilee of Queen Elizabeth the Second and the passage of the Olympic flame through the town on June 14th 2012.

Sweet memories ....
Elegantly-presented sweets of bygone days in a shop on Walkergate which has sadly ceased trading. I had to resist going inside (constant 'diet' etc) but it was one of those businesses which had that proper historical look, providing old-fashioned liquorice and chocolates in addition to the jars pictured here, and which one hoped would succeed on the 'a little of what you fancy' trade for birthdays and celebratory treats.
