Headstones against the wall of former burial ground Eyemouth
The headstones have been cleared from the centre of the former burial ground in Eyemouth and now rest against the external walls of, what is now, a public garden. The garden contains memorials to fishermen who died during as a result of the 1881 East Coast Fishing disaster and their families.

A gravestone at Eyemouth
The stone is against the perimeter wall of an old burial ground which has been cleared of stones and converted in to a garden area. The stone was erected by Alexander Aitchison who lost a daughter in infancy and two sons who died at sea in fishing boats. The inscription reads: Erected By Alexander Aitchison Fisherman In memory of His daughter Jane Who departed this life on 25th Sept 1857 Aged one year and five months Also of James Aitchison his son Who was drowned on North Shields Bar 15th day of June 1869 aged 24 years Also of John Aitchison his son Who was killed by lightning in the boat Ten Brothers. Shields Bar on the 18th June 1842 aged 25 years Also the above Alexander Aitchison who died 8th April 1882 Aged 73 years Also Hugh Aitchison his son who died 12 May 1873 Aged 36 years
