East side of Galashiels from Broomyknowe Plantation
The view begins to open up as the Borders Abbeys Way climbs from the Tweed to cross higher ground southwards towards Selkirk. The prominent sandstone building near the centre is the Kingsknowes Hotel Image The Tweed is out of sight below the trees.

Kingsknowes Hotel
A Scots baronial mansion built in 1869 for Adam Cochrane, a local textile mill owner, with a conservatory added in 1903. Now a hotel, and handy for exploring the Galashiels-Melrose-Selkirk area.

Kingsknowes Hotel
The Kingsknowes Hotel is an imposing Scottish baronial mansion, built in 1869 for the local textile mill owner, Adam Lees Cochrane. It was sympathetically converted into an Hotel in the 1960s, managing to retain much of the delicate elegance and charm of the original features, and furnished comfortably with its heritage in mind. http://www.kingsknowes.co.uk/
