Houses on Elm Row, Galashiels
A block of flats numbered 13-31 on the map which, with odd numbering, would indicate 10 flats, but with 4 x ground floor doors and 4 x first floor doors, presumably to 2-storey flats. that is only 8. Perhaps the answer to my confusion lies in the fact that it is part of a larger development that spreads over adjacent streets?

Houses on Elm Row, Galashiels
With only one number [11] on the OS plan, but looks to be too large for one dwelling; there is a balcony at the rear, so likely to be at least two. The plaque records that it was the site of the Leith Banking Company, where Sir Walter Scott did business from 1812-1832 Image

Sir Walter Scott at Galashiels
A plaque noting that Sir Walter Scott 'transacted business here with the Leith Banking Company from 1812-1832' Image On Canmore it is identified as 17 Elm Street or 2 Church Street https://canmore.org.uk/site/99728/galashiels-2-church-street-the-green, and on gb1900 mapping https://maps.nls.uk/projects/gb1900/#zoom=17&lat=55.6127&lon=-2.8071&layer=0aste there is a single building on the corner, but clearly not the one the plaque is on. So perhaps stretching a point?
