Albert Place, Galashiels
Viewed from Lawyers' Brae, this shows a mixture of building types at Albert Place. On the left is the end of the Burgh Chambers building (1867) with the former sculptors shop and yard of Sutherland and Sons (now John Scott Fireplaces) on the right. Beyond on the right is a facing brick extension (1976) to the Burgh Chambers, accessed from Paton Street. Part of the colourful facade of the new TESCO superstore is visible beyond the Burgh Chambers buildings and a recent housing scheme can be seen on Blaikie's Hill in the far distance.
