The Hen Trap
This is the local name for the flight of 72 steps from Magdala Terrace on the A7 up to Halliburton Place in Galashiels. The steps take a small dog-leg turn to the right at the stone wall before continuing up to Halliburton Place.

The Skinworks Cauld
A throwback to the times when the fast flowing Gala Water powered the textile mills in Galashiels. Related industries, such as wool broking and fellmongering, also boomed, most notably through Sanderson & Murray, who operated Buckholmside Skinworks from 1856 to 1980. The mill was demolished in 1983 and is now the site of a B&Q store. A salmon ladder with fish counter is on the right and the houses in the background are at Magdala Terrace.
