The plaque on the old tollhouse on the Scottish side of the River Tweed. The inscription is 'MARRIAGE HOUSE/WEDDINGS CONDUCTED/HERE UNTIL 1856/RESTORED 1957'

Old bridge tollhouse
On the Scottish side of the River Tweed in Coldstream is this bridge tollhouse where tolls to cross the bridge were once collected. Pontage. The stone plaque between the windows on the right is inscribed to commemorate the use of the building as a Marriage House.
