St Aidan's Church and church hall
Viewed from Livingston Place, the church and hall are accessed from Gala Park. The church was opened in 1880 but was closed in August 2005 and is now up for sale by the Church of Scotland. St Aidan's congregation merged with St Ninian's in the High Street of the town to become Trinity Church.

The refurbished Market Square in Galashiels
The upgraded plaza costing £270,000 was officially opened on the 17th of July 2012 by the former Marillion frontman Fish (Derek Dick) whose first gig was in the town in 1980. Lyrics from the group’s best-known song Kayleigh have been inscribed on paving stones in the refurbished square and parts of the song are a reference to his time in Galashiels. The square, originally laid out in granite setts in the 1920s, was landscaped in 1968 and 1994.

Six townhouses and a bungalow have been built on the site of the former Brydons Dairies. Access is from Livingston Place.

Another church - closed
St Aidan's Church in Galashiels, with its magnificent spire and rose window, has closed forever and is boarded up. During the church's earlier life it was known as St. Cuthbert's.
