The former Ladhope Kirk.
The sad old building was once a kirk then latterly a fitness centre but is now abandoned. Renovation work is being carried out at the adjacent church hall.

Work has started on the old Waverley Line (in view here on the left) to re-lay track from Edinburgh to Tweedbank. The sign on the left gives notice of advance works on the Borders Railway.

Demolition work in Stirling Street, Galashiels in 1986
Buildings in Stirling Street were demolished to make way for a Somerfield supermarket, which in turn was taken over by b&m bargains in September 2010. A Lowland bus is entering Park Street from Stirling Street. This photo taken was from the High Road Park and copied from a black and white negative.

Borders Railway construction work in Galashiels
These stone masons are building a stone cladding against a concrete retaining wall in Ladhope Vale. The new railway will run between the concrete wall and the existing brick retaining wall in the background.
