This is a pedestrian area of the street other than access for service vehicles. Several shops, including charity shops, have closed in the town, but the one on the right is still open.

Galashiels Post Office
Located in Channel Street, this fine building is due to be closed with some services transferred to W.H.Smith, also in Channel Street. Built in 1894 by H.M. Office of Works, this 2 storey building has a five bay frontage with octagonal towers and projecting porch. It was extended in 1915. The 2011 Dragon Festival in Galashiels
A good crowd attended the Dragon Festival in Channel Street, Galashiels to celebrate the Chinese New Year and welcome in the Year of the Rabbit. The event was organised by the Borders Chinese Cultural Association, with the main event the Lion Dance performed by the Glasgow Hong Lok Dragon and Lion Dancing Troupe. Here, a white lion poses for the camera at the end of the performance.
