Russell Place rest homes
This semi-detached building in Russell Place has a couple of stones embedded in it. One refers to the homes as Rest Homes, erected in memory of Rose Waddon. The other is a foundation stone, laid by the deputy mayor, Alderman E. Wills on 2nd July, 1952. Rose's husband, Ernest, established a charitable trust in memory of his wife for female pensioners aged 60 or more resident in the borough for 20 years. The modern trust is now housed in Chilton Street.
