A short walk past the cricket ground
A footpath and stile takes the traveller around the boundaries of the wicket and a mere quarter-mile to Merryfield.

Flagpoles at the cricket ground
Ilton's ground is partly lined by a number of what appear to be flagpoles, one of which had rusted at the bottom and fallen. The wicket appears to be on a north-south alignment, so the poles might not be used for the screens.
