A gateway set within the gatehouse tower known as The Keep Image The name derives from the involvement of the Regiment in the siege of Jellalabad (in what is now Afghanistan) in 1841-42. As is often found with transliterated names, the spelling varies (Jellalabad, Jellallabad as used by Historic England, or Jalalabad as used by Wikipedia) but the one in the title looks to be the accepted local usage.
