The Butchery is on the corner of High Street and Chapel Street. A small-sized row of text

House and rear entrance to school, Chapel Street, Wem
The inscription is 'British Schools'. These were non-conformist schools set up before local authorities provided 'board' schools. 'School' is often seen in the plural, one for boys and one for girls; later maybe one for infants as well. The school is (or was) in Leek Street.
