An old course of the Rea Brook or a ditch maybe, or both. Anyway, full of water, now frozen on a cold day of minus 1 degrees Celsius with a windchill factor making it feel like minus 4 so the weather forecasters warned.
Definitely too cold to hand about or stop on a walk.
