Dismantled railway south of Tynygraig, Ceredigion
This is looking towards Pontrhydfendigaid along the course of the Manchester and Milford Railway (which went to neither place) but closed in 1965. The track bed from here to the outskirts of Tregaron is now used as a public footpath and the National Cycle Route No 82 (Fishguard to Machynlleth via Lampeter and Aberystwyth). Horses are permitted on some sections, but not this one.
Wikipedia states that this was the Carmarthen to Aberystwyth Line, a standard gauge branch line of the Great Western Railway in Wales. As a result of floods and the Beeching Axe, the line closed throughout to passengers from 1965, and to freight from Pont Llanio creamery near Tregaron to Aberaeron Junction near Lampeter in 1970.

Cycle path on former railway line towards Ystradmeurig
Horses are not allowed on this section. This was the Manchester & Milford Haven Railway. The section immediately north of this point has not been converted to a cycle path - cyclists using route 82 must rejoin the road for the next couple of miles.
