Ex-Midland 3F 0-6-0 at Welshpool
View eastward from the station: ex-Cambrian Railway Whitchurch - Oswestry - Welshpool - Machynlleth - Abertystwyth main line. Ex-Midland Johnson/Deeley 5'3" 3F 0-6-0 No. 43760 (withdrawn 4/62) is on the turntable in the Locomotive Yard, probably after working a freight from Shrewsbury over the ex-GW&LNW Joint line.

Welshpool railway station, Powys
Opened in 1862 by the Shrewsbury & Welshpool Railway which became part of the Cambrian Railway empire, on the line from Shrewsbury to Machynlleth.
View south west towards Forden and Machynlleth. The chimneys of the original station building can be seen above the trees, to the right. The platform was moved to here in the 1990s to accommodate a new road being built between the realigned railway and the old station building! The road is behind the fence on the right.
