H. Ballard & Son, Welshpool
The building was formerly a Malt House, probably associated with the public house (and others nearby in Hall Street) adjacent to the west, which was demolished in around 1902 during construction of the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway through the town. The south-west corner of the Malt House was also removed for the railway alignment. Ballard took over the by then disused building in 1928-30 for use as a motor repair garage and petrol station. 7 and 8 Union Street, Welshpool
Grade II listed building (16736)
Numbers 7-8 are a pair of early C19 houses. A datestone - probably re-sited - on the rear wing of No 7 is dated 1829.

Welshpool, OS benchmark plate on Market Hall
Ordnance Survey flush bracket benchmark fixed to the wall of the Market Hall which is behind the Town Hall. The bracket carries serial number S0237 with the S below the digits. The mark was levelled and verified in 1973 at 81.687m above Newlyn datum.
