Buildings on Long Bridge Street, Llanidloes
Enough to make you stare in astonishment. A delightful pair of buildings wrecked by the shop front on the left. Not surprisingly, they aren't listed.

Welcome, with a smile :)
I know this has been captured for Geograph before, but it's worth seeing again. This time we get the full glare, eyeball to eyeball, whilst keeping at a safe distance....

Ref Lion Hotel, Long Bridge Street
Early C18 origins with C19 heightening and alterations. Gwilym Howell started the first local eisteddfodau here in 1772. It is Grade II listed and sports a fierce red lion over the front porch.

Glazed façade
I love to look above the shop fronts in any street and my eye was taken by the tile insets on this building. Then I realised the whole façade is glazed. Whether it is glazed brick or faced with tiles, I couldn't say but it speaks of earlier wealth in this the 'first town on the Severn'.

Red Lion Hotel, Llanidloes
Previously rendered and painted white with fake black quoin stones matching those on the Travellers' Rest restaurant next door. You can see the lion as it used to be here http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1605162 . The building shrouded in scaffolding and polythene is HSBC Bank.
