Sign for the Aleppo Merchant
Although the current sign shows a steam ship, the Aleppo Merchant was a vessel of 400 tons, who sailed between 1642-50, and did four voyages for the East India Company.

Caer Noddfa
There is little to be seen of this earthwork on the ground (and not much more from the air). It is thought to be the site of a Roman fort and was excavated in 1909. The Knights Hospitaller established a grange here in the late 13th century which became a place of sanctuary in the Middle Ages. Noddfa means sanctuary.
The hill in the background is Pen y Pigyns.

Carno - cast iron gate post
A curious pierced, hollow, cast iron gatepost on the entrance to St John the Baptist church. It seems to have suffered some damage over the years.

Milestone in Carno
This milestone is not marked on the map but probably predates the wall.
It shows 11 miles to Newtown and 17 miles to Machynlleth. Mach is a commonly used abbreviation for Machynlleth but I have yet to hear anyone refer to Newtown as Newt.
Someone has cleaned it up and repainted it since 2006 https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6038359
