Drain across field
It is unusual to see a drain or brook crossing a pasture as this one does, they usually follow a hedgeline. I suppose it provides a supply of drinking water when stock are grazed here.

You can get some idea of the height of the hedge before work began from the taller hawthorns on the left. Presumably someone must be employed later to finish the job and fill in the gap left where work began.
