Memorial cross in Llanllwchaiarn churchyard
A wider view of the cross seen here http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3033771 It looks very much like a war memorial but commemorates only one man, Eric Lawrence Talbot R.H.A. who fell at Ypres 24th October 1914. He was the first man from Newtown to die in WWI; had he lived, he would have inherited the title Squire of Pennant, Glanhafren and Glyncogan from his grandfather.
