Hillside Avenue, Newtown
Showing its junction with Mwyn Fynydd to the left and Barn Lane straight ahead. The houses up here have lovely views across the Severn Valley to the Kerry Hills. Taken shortly after noon on a dull and dreary day. The sun did make a very brief appearance later.

Tree on the corner of Hillside Avenue
On a sunny New Year's morning. I'm not sure what specific conifer this is, clinging to the hillside at a point where there seems to be little soil to root into. A closer look at the bank Image

Cotoneaster, Barn Lane, Newtown
I'm not certain of the species but the profusion of berries suggests it is not so attractive to the birds as the orange-berried version in my garden. This one grows on the corner of the eastern end of Barn Lane.

On Christmas Day with most of the light snow which fell earlier in the week remaining on the shaded pavement in freezing conditions.

Confusing junction on Barn Lane
On a sunny New Year's morning. Ahead to the left, the other end of Image, ahead to the right, a continuation of Barn Lane. Out of shot to the left, Barn Lane, out of shot to the right, presumably Mwyn Fynydd.

Junction of Hillside Avenue and Mwyn Fynydd viewed from Barn Lane
On a damp Christmas Day. The tiny area of blue sky - a rare sight in the last few months, heralded a few minutes of sunshine just after midday on Christmas Day 2015, before the next band of rain, seen approaching in http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4790157 arrived.

Hoarfrost, Hillside Avenue
Perhaps the most attractive part of cold weather - sunshine on hoarfrost.

View across the Severn valley
On a sunny New Year's Day. Difficult to get a good view south across the valley close to noon. Good enough to see the Tesco supermarket (left) sign has not been replaced since it disappeared after recent storms. The river runs between the trees this side of Tesco and the houses below them. Cambrian Bridge on the right with the Pryce Jones buildings near the station, beyond. Almost all the built-up area in this view is within this grid square.
