Tree on the corner of Hillside Avenue
On a sunny New Year's morning. I'm not sure what specific conifer this is, clinging to the hillside at a point where there seems to be little soil to root into. A closer look at the bank Image

Cotoneaster, Barn Lane, Newtown
I'm not certain of the species but the profusion of berries suggests it is not so attractive to the birds as the orange-berried version in my garden. This one grows on the corner of the eastern end of Barn Lane.

Hillside Avenue, Newtown
Showing its junction with Mwyn Fynydd to the left and Barn Lane straight ahead. The houses up here have lovely views across the Severn Valley to the Kerry Hills. Taken shortly after noon on a dull and dreary day. The sun did make a very brief appearance later.

Confusing junction on Barn Lane
On a sunny New Year's morning. Ahead to the left, the other end of Image, ahead to the right, a continuation of Barn Lane. Out of shot to the left, Barn Lane, out of shot to the right, presumably Mwyn Fynydd.

Hoarfrost, Hillside Avenue
Perhaps the most attractive part of cold weather - sunshine on hoarfrost.

Unnamed private road in Barnfields
I'm told a name was once imposed upon this road but resident Welsh speakers objected to the connotations of the translation so the name does not appear on any maps and is never used. The dozen houses with an address on this road rely upon their postcode.

Silver birch on Hillside Avenue on New Year's Day
The morning started off quite bright and sunny, but just before midday the cloud cover increased. Back in 2022 the sunshine was more committed https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7071033. But my favourite shot of the tree was taken in early December back in 2010 in a hoarfrost https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2201091.
