Wigland - where dairying meets sheep country
View from Wigland footpath 3 on bearing of 200 deg. This is a dairy farm that also collects old tyres - like all too many in Cheshire. The valley in mid-field belongs to a tributary stream to Wych Brook - the end of Scholar's Wood just enters the image from the right. The undulating and somewhat wooded scenery, cut by quite steep-sided stream valleys, is typical of the area in the extreme south of west Cheshire alongside the Welsh border ... very different from the much flatter main part of the Cheshire plain further north. Although Wigland Farm seems to concentrate on dairying, many of the farms around here focus more on sheep.
