Shocklach Millennium Cross
Shocklach millennium cross and pinfold on Worthenbury Road. My thanks to Alison Macchi who supplied the following info: Dear Jeff Thanks for your message and glad you noticed the "cross". Actually, it's not ancient at all but was made by someone in the village to celebrate the millennium. There was an opening ceremony and lots of people helped. It was put in a sort of square "lay-by" at the side of the road which was called "the pinfold" which was where any stray animals were put if found on the road in the old days until someone claimed them. The cottage opposite is called Pinfold Cottage and there used to be an old farm of the same name where the rather grand new house is now. Hope you tried the pub as well. Kind regards. Alison Macchi

Shocklach Bull Inn 1985
Crosville Bristol RELL6G ERG280 paused outside the Bull Inn, Shocklach on 20 April 1985 whilst meandering around the lanes of Cheshire on service D45 from Wrexham. The photographer was a passenger on the service who took his cue to photograph the scene when the driver turned off the engine for a few minutes. The vehicle was rescued for preservation after being taken out of service, and paid a return visit in 2006 in its restored state. Image

Shocklach Bull Inn 2006
Compare this view taken in 2006 with that taken in 1985 Image It is the same bus in the same location 21½ years later. The bus is no longer in service, it is preserved with a private owner whose kind co-operation in recreating the scene is acknowledged.
