Whitchurch Parish Church
This is the church that gives the town its name, although it no longer white, as it would have been in the past. Presumably its prominent position led to its name, at a time when all churches would have been white-harled.

St Alkmunds Church, Whitchurch
This fine Queen Anne sandstone church is built on the site of a much earlier Norman church. Sir John Talbot, the first Earl of Shrewsbury, had his heart buried under the porch of this church. He was a renowned military commander in the 100 Years War. The local secondary school is named after him.
