Old Milestone by the B5063, Balmer Heath, Welshampton and Lyneal parish
Carved stone post by the B5063, in parish of WELSHAMPTON AND LYNEAL (NORTH SHROPSHIRE District), Balmer Heath, by the road, on North side of road. Erected by the Wem to Bron y Garth turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- WEM 6 M ELLESMERE 3 M (TURNPI??)KE Shropshire HER. Classic canal side cottage at Hampton Bank
The S shaped black inserts are reinforcing agents to prevent the old walls from bulging. They have been made into a distinctive feature on this lovely cottage.
