22 & 23 Claremont Hill, Shrewsbury
A pair of 17th century, timber framed town houses, which have been extended over the years. The framing high in the gable clearly shows the original roofline. They were collectively Grade II listed https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101269761-22-and-23-claremont-hill-shrewsbury#.XJf-Bij7TIU in 1969.

No 20, the main property seen here, sports an 18th century brick overcoat to its 17th century timber frame, in common with most of the houses on the north side of Claremont Hill. It was Grade II listed https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101247023-20-claremont-hill-shrewsbury#.XJf8YSj7TIU in 1969.

Alberts Shed
First recorded as the Slipper in the 18th century it became the Old Slipper in the 19th. For most of the 20th century it was part of the M&B empire, before being acquired by Wolverhampton & Dudley (Banks's) who themselves rebranded it several times (Jackson's, Merchant Stores, Rowley's etc). It morphed into the Source Vodka Bar before refurbishment in 2017 turned it into Alberts Shed. Image

Scott's Mansion on Claremont Hill
Well, to be fair, roughly 3/5 of Scott's Mansion at any rate. The whole house was built around the late 17th century to the design of James Mason, although the inserted shopfronts are rather more modern; it was Grade II listed https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101271076-scotts-mansionscotts-mansions-shrewsbury#.XJf_Gyj7TIU as early as 1953.

The shuts and passages of Shrewsbury : Claremont Place
Shrewsbury retains a number of 'shuts' or alleyways which provide convenient shortcuts and which enable pedestrians to get around the centre of the town in an almost bygone world behind and between the busy shopping streets. These narrow passages date back to the Middle Ages when the town must have been a veritable rabbit warren: many have disappeared in the course of redevelopment and those that remain deserve to be preserved. The origin of the name is obscure but, it has been suggested that, unlike closed cul-de sacs, these alleys, being open both ends, allow the pedestrian to 'shoot' rapidly from one street to another. 'Shut' could also be a contraction of 'shortcut' which it usually is! Claremont Place is a private passage and courtyard off Claremont Street so does not qualify as one of the public shuts.
