The Macclesfield Canal was built to link the Trent and Mersey Canal from the Midlands to Manchester via Macclesfield. This marina on the canal contains a large collections of Heritage Narrow Boats.

Site of former canal bridge at Scholar Green
The localised narrowing of the canal suggests there was a bridge here, which is supported by a public footpath across fields coming up to the towpath alongside it, and on the other side the former Ramsdell Hall lodge Image See Image for a view from the opposite direction.

Ramsdell Hall lodge
The lodge is in a patch of woodland down by the canal, but there was once a bridge carrying a footpath across the canal here Image, so people approaching the hall from Scholar Green (before the canal) would have entered the estate at this point.
