Harecastle Railway Tunnel, Southern Portal
Runs above the Harecastle Canal tunnels. Was built 1845 and disused since 1965 as there was no room to run the electrification through.

Harecastle Tunnel near Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent
Trent and Mersey Canal. This is the south portal of the tunnel built by Thomas Telford in 1827 to augment and by the mid twentieth century replace the earlier 1777 tunnel of James Brindley.
Working narrowboat "Collingwood" is emerging from the tunnel, which is just under two miles long. (2926 yards, 2675 metres).

Harecastle Tunnel near Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent
