Newcastle-under-Lyme: road junction on King Street (A53)
In the background on the right, King Street (the A53) is a two-lane one-way road. All traffic is leaving central Newcastle in a north-easterly direction. The cars on the left, and those queueing at the lights on the right, are turning onto Borough Road which runs but a short distance to join Brunswick Street (the A52), where traffic may turn either left up the hill out of town or right into town. In the foreground the A53 continues NE, through the Potteries and on to Leek and ultimately Buxton.
