Also known as Trentham Colliery. A relatively modern pit (not present on 1940s OS) and now demolished. This horizontal duplex compressed air rope changing winch is now preserved in at Apedale Heritage Centre, Newcastle-under-Lyme.

The A Frame
The A Frame was the headgear for Hem Heath Colliery No.2 shaft. The frame was demolished and the shaft filled and capped in 1999.The design of the headgear was unique in the UK but of a design much used in Germany.
