This shows the Caldon Canal above Bedford Street Staircase Locks, and looking south as the canal meanders away eastwards towards Shelton and Hanley Park.

Bedford Street Staircase, Caldon Canal
This whole area had fairly recently been landscaped as part of a redevelopment scheme. Notice however how open it was 26 years ago compared with a similar view today Image The change in Health & Safety culture is also noticeable with the later addition of a multiplicity of handrails!
