Three kilns, James Kent, Fountain Street, Fenton
Although listed on a list of surviving bottle kilns (see my gallery) these are in fact material calcining kilns of bottle form. Due to a mesh in the fence I had to hold my chunky DSLR over the fence and shoot blindly. Having made several attempts I discovered the top of the fence was liberally slathered with thick black grease that I got all over my nice coat - it's coming off slowly and with difficulty.
