Horse-drawn narrow boat at Gnosall, Shropshire Union Canal, 1969
Horse-drawn narrow boat ‘Pamela’ at Gnosall. In the background is Bridge 34 with the Bridge Inn alongside.
'Pamela' was built in the 1895 by Bantocks of Wolverhampton. She was converted to a horse-drawn hotel boat in the 1960s but is now in private ownership.

The Shropshire Union Canal at Gnosall Bridge, Staffordshire
Bridge No 35 counting from Autherley Junction near Wolverhampton. Thomas Telford engineered the construction of this, the Birmingham and Liverpool Junction Canal, which opened in 1835 soon after his death. It was renamed when the company merged with a rival railway company in 1845.

The Old Corn Mill at Gnosall Heath, Staffordshire
This is Coton Mill, adjacent to the Shropshire Union Canal at Gnosall Bridge (No 35). There are claims that self-raising flour was invented here, though other references suggest Henry Jones was first to create it in Bristol. At present the old mill is a private residence.
