Magnificent kitchen for the big house at Shugborough. The position is approximate. Canon EOS 30D hand held with the ISO pushed to 1600 and no flash.

This is the 'wet laundry' with its large copper, dolly tub, wash board, posser and mangle all on display and ably demonstrated by a friendly demonstrator. I was very impressed with Shugborough.

Shugborough Hall reflected in a branch of the River Sow. The house was the home of the Earls of Lichfield and Anson family. Most famously photographer, Patrick Lichfield, the 5th Earl of Lichfield. He died suddenly in 2005, and now with a timed ticket his apartment which he leased from Staffordshire County Council is open to the public. When the 4th earl died in 1960 the house and estate was transferred to the National Trust, and Staffordshire County Council in lieu of death duties.

Patrick Lichfield's portrait studio on the upper floor at Shugborough Hall. Shugborough is a country estate on the edge of Cannock Chase, approximately 4 miles from Stafford. It comprises a country house, kitchen garden, and model farm. It is owned by the National Trust and maintained by the leaseholder, Staffordshire County Council, it previously belonged to the Earls of Lichfield, the Anson family. The mansion house was built in the late seventeenth century and remained in the Anson family until 1960, when the estate was gifted to in lieu of death duties. It is managed by the Staffordshire County Council on behalf of the National Trust. The family (most notably Patrick Lichfield) resided in private apartments on the upper floor of the house. Following the death of Patrick Lichfield, the private apartments have been opened to the public and may be viewed during a visit to the house.
