Caldon Canal south-east of Hanley in Stoke-on-Trent
The transformation of many former industrial brown-field sites along this canal is well on the way with housing developments. Occasional "heritage" remnants are "listed" so preserved as a reminder of the area's industrial past. Behind the wall on the right is a small undeveloped plot (I don't know why) by the housing which has replaced the demolished Johnson's pottery.

New housing by the Caldon Canal near Hanley
This is the Caldon Canal south-west of Botteslow Road Bridge, No 10. The apartments have been built on the site of demolished old factories. There are many cleared brown-field sites in the area which are earmarked for such development schemes. Since the date of this image (2009) the site on the left has been covered in houses, though the two old bottle kilns have been preserved.

Canalside housing and bottle kilns, Stoke-on-Trent
The transformation of many former industrial brown-field sites along this canal is well on the way with many housing developments. Occasional "heritage" remnants are Grade II listed so are kept as a reminder of the area's industrial past. Off to the right is the housing which has replaced the demolished Johnson's pottery, with two bottle kilns and the main frontage in Eastwood Road preserved.

Eastwood Road Bridge south-east of Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent
Looking north, Eastwood Road Bridge is No 9 across the Caldon Canal north of Joiner's Square. Despite the apparent run-down industrial appearance remaining here, many of the former industrial buildings by the canal have been demolished and the land re-allocated to housing development. This has already been achieved beyond the bridge and off to the right, north of Eastwood Road.

Preserved bottle ovens, Hanley
The former Johnson Bros works. Although the kilns are still standing on cleared land the redevelopment is creeping ever closer. There are other derelict looking works in the distance.
