Loading Johnson's pottery, Imperial Works
From about 1970 to 1986, Johnson Brothers' pottery used three boats to carry part-made pottery four miles along the Caldon Canal between two of their sites. This reduced the number of breakages, compared with using lorries. The boats were called Milton Maid, Milton Princess and Milton Queen. For more information, see http://www.thepotteries.org/potworks_wk/087.htm.

Eastwood Road Bridge south-east of Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent
Looking north, Eastwood Road Bridge is No 9 across the Caldon Canal north of Joiner's Square. Despite the apparent run-down industrial appearance remaining here, many of the former industrial buildings by the canal have been demolished and the land re-allocated to housing development. This has already been achieved beyond the bridge and off to the right, north of Eastwood Road.
